Hello! 你好!    My name is Stefan Kucharczyk and I am an experienced primary school teacher, lecturer and writer based in Leeds (UK). I have always loved losing myself in stories: in books, films, computer games, theatre, lego and anything and everything else. But my real passion has always been writing. Now, I work with primary school children and teachers to support them in making writing an immersive, creative and fun experience. I am interested in the potential of creative, enquiry-based learning to change the way we think about education in primary schools (and education in general) and to help prepare young learners to live and flourish as literate citizens in an exciting world. I was asked to deliver a teacher training session focused on embedding the writing process, especially how to get children in a position to write and how to help them edit and redraft their work afterwards. It was a cut-stick, painting and printing frenzy this morning as I spent a very enjoyable few hours working with students at Leeds Trinity University. Delivering a lecture on the role and impact of art and creativity in Early Years learning, I was impressed by the ideas and imagination of the students. Working on the second year of their Early Childhood Studies degrees, the students explored elements of best practice of a creative teacher including: - offing variety of starting points, techniques and materials for the children to use.   - planning for progression of children's skills while allowing them freedom to explore and experiment. - developing an open dialogue with the children to assess their learning. Creative Literacy Workshop: The DIY Writer Friday 13 th February 2015 A satisfying and engaging morning with teachers from local primary schools talking through the processes that support children’s development in writing. The group got to grips with talk as a basis for writing, explored their artistic response to a book and saw how model texts can help children shape their own compositions.
